Modern stone and white-stucco home at dusk with a lit terrace on a hilltop above wooded slopes, a lake in the distance

Where the hills meet the water.

Benbrook sits southwest of Fort Worth around a Corps of Engineers lake, in what the Corps calls “rolling hills and prairie meadows.” We design the technology for homes there, a short drive from our base.

A lake that belongs to everyone

Benbrook Lake was built by the Army Corps of Engineers on the Clear Fork of the Trinity, and began to fill in September 1952. The Corps owns all the land around it, so the shoreline stays open country — parks, prairie and more than twenty miles of riding and hiking trail.

The town is older than the lake. It was settled about 1857 as Miranda, renamed for James M. Benbrook, who helped bring the Texas and Pacific through, and incorporated in 1947.

Homes among the trees

Benbrook asks that houses, drives and parking “fit harmoniously with the natural environment,” and that larger lots keep most of their big trees. We plan the landscape lighting and every cable run around them, so the trees are lit, not trenched.

Hills and glass

A house on a hill is built for the view, and the view means glass. Motorized shades that follow the afternoon sun keep the view and protect the floors and furniture, and lower themselves when the room is empty.

What it takes

Shade for the view.

Lutron shades on the west glass that track the sun, so the view stays and the glare goes.

Light among the trees.

Uplighting on the trunks and moonlighting from the canopy, planned around the roots.

A network to the terrace.

Coverage to the pool, the terrace and the edge of the slope, managed as one secure network.

Security.

The Otium Group, Inc — Security Division, monitored around the clock by a UL-Listed central station.

One system.

Control4 ties it together. Sunset lowers the west shades, lifts the terrace lights and starts the music outside.

Common questions

Do you serve Benbrook?

Yes. We design and install home technology across Benbrook, from our base in Fort Worth.

Can shades keep the view and still stop the glare?

Yes. Solar shade fabrics cut the heat and glare while you still see out, and the shades move on their own with the sun.

Can landscape lighting go in without harming the trees?

Yes. We plan every fixture and cable run around the root zones before work begins, and coordinate with your landscape architect.

When should we bring you into a new build?

At plan review. Wiring, conduit, shade pockets and landscape lighting circuits are decided before the walls close. Afterward, every one of them costs more.

Who answers when something needs service?
