Low modern stone and glass home at dusk under a deep cantilevered roof, a lit great room, a fire table on the terrace and an edge pool, with a fairway and oaks beyond
The Otium Group  /  Trophy Club

Living on the fairway.

Trophy Club was built around its golf course, and the best homes here still face it. We design their technology for the view, and for the evenings outside.

A town named for a clubhouse

In 1972, the recently retired Ben Hogan agreed to design a course here, with a clubhouse that would hold his championship trophies. The idea gave the town its name, and the neighborhoods were laid out around the fairways from 1973.

The club has two 18-hole courses today: the Hogan Course — by the club’s account Hogan’s only course design, laid out with the architect Joe Lee — and the Whitworth, an Arthur Hills design honoring Kathy Whitworth, most of whose trophies are kept in the clubhouse dining room.

On the fairway

A home on the course lives with its back to an open lawn. The landscape lighting should land on your trees and your terrace, not on the fairway or the neighbors. Music by the pool should stay on your side of the fence. Shades should take the afternoon glare off the glass without closing off the view, and cameras should watch the property line, not the golfers.

By the lake

Trophy Club Park runs along the northern shore of Grapevine Lake: 877 acres the Town leases from the Army Corps of Engineers, with equestrian and hiking trails along the water.

Next door, Roanoke — which calls itself the Unique Dining Capital of Texas — keeps its restaurants along historic Oak Street. We work there too.

What it takes

Outdoor living.

Speakers that sound as good by the pool as they do inside, and lighting for the trees and the water that stays off the course.

Light and shade.

Lutron lighting and motorized shading on the glass that faces the fairway.

A network for the house and the yard.

Coverage from the kitchen to the outdoor kitchen, managed as one secure network.

Security.

The Otium Group, Inc — Security Division, monitored around the clock by a UL-Listed central station.

One system.

Control4 ties it together. Entertain sets the lights, the music and the shades for company with one press.

What we do here

Every home we design in Trophy Club draws on the same disciplines, planned together from the first drawings.

For homeowners

Most of our work begins with a homeowner who tells their builder they want us. Tell yours.

Common questions

Do you serve Trophy Club and Roanoke?

Yes. We design and install home technology across Trophy Club and Roanoke, from our base in Fort Worth.

Can landscape lighting stay off the golf course?

Yes. We aim and shield every fixture so the light lands on your trees and terrace, not on the fairway or the homes across it.

Can we have music outside without bothering the neighbors?

Yes. Outdoor speakers placed low and aimed back toward the house keep the sound on your terrace rather than across the course.

Can you take over an existing system?

Yes. We take over existing Control4 and Lutron systems, keep the wiring and hardware that is sound, and re-document everything.

Who answers when something needs service?
